Company History

For nearly 30 years, Compression Leasing Services, Inc. has been the premium provider of high-pressure air and gas booster compressors and associated services and parts.  When CLS was founded in Casper, Wyoming in 1981 by Richard Gruner, the company’s core business was centered on long-term rentals and financial leases of air and gas compression equipment.  This equipment was used specifically in oil and gas production, exploration, and pipeline construction and testing, as well as mining and mineral exploration.  Over the years, CLS’s focus grew to include not only renting and leasing equipment, but also the design, manufacturing and sales of air and gas compressors.  Through it all, Compression Leasing Services has maintained an unwavering commitment to excellent equipment, service and customer relations.

In 1997, Compression Leasing Services was reincorporated and Richard’s two sons took over the company.  Ben Gruner assumed the duties of President, while Daron became Vice President and Head of Engineering.  Along with a small group of dedicated employees, the Gruner brothers set out to change the compressor industry.  Taking an aggressive approach, the Gruners began to vertically integrate products, processes and services into a company that supports all aspects of air and gas compression.  This new mission required an upgrade in buildings, and now the company’s 60,000 sq. ft. facilities house an A.S.M.E. Code Vessel Shop, Skid Fabrication and Unit Assembly Line, Full-Service Machine Shop, and Sales, Engineering and Manufacturing Offices.  Furthermore, CLS now has facilities in Denver and Grand Junction, Colorado, as well as Gillette, Wyoming.

Today, CLS’s core client base is varied and diverse: oil and gas companies; pipeline transmission, testing and construction businesses; the oil, natural gas, mineral mining, water well and geothermal energy exploration industries; automotive service and restoration companies; the tire replacement industry; and countless manufacturing companies, ranging from brewing and wine companies to municipal and government sectors to the medical and dental industry and more.  Whatever the business, customers can rely on Compression Leasing Services for any of their compressor needs, including:

• Sales, parts, rental and service
• General fabrication work
• Compressor engineering and design
• Equipment painting and sandblasting
• A.S.M.E. Code vessel design, fabrication and repair
• Compressor part and component manufacturing and repair
• Metal milling, shaping, drilling, turning, grinding and cutting

There are many uses and applications for compressors today, and CLS is committed to serving all of them.  But despite the continued growth and innovation that Compression Leasing Services, Inc. has brought to the compressor field, it remains a family owned and operated business dedicated to providing the highest levels of customer sales, service and support.
